Baghdad: Faihan confirms that the parliamentary agenda will be completely different from previous sessions. The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi, affirmed that the new legislative session will witness a qualitative shift in legislative and oversight performance, as its session agenda will include dedicated sessions for listening to and discussing the performance of ministries, bodies, and oversight institutions, as well as their programs and future development plans, to serve as a primary standard for monitoring and evaluation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faihan stated that the Speaker and members of Parliament have prioritized combating corruption, emphasizing the activation of specialized parliamentary committees to monitor and oversee the work of oversight bodies. This effort aims to provide necessary support for these committees. Faihan highlighted that tackling corruption has become a crucial national goal that is neither negotiable nor deferrable, ensuring the protection of public funds and accountability for all involved parties without exception.
Faihan underscored that addressing corruption requires tangible actions rather than mere slogans and statements, which have historically contributed to the proliferation of corruption. He made it clear that Parliament will not permit any corrupt individuals to evade accountability, regardless of their status or connections, until the misappropriated funds are recovered and the rule of law is firmly established. This approach is intended to bolster citizens' trust in state institutions and demonstrate that combating corruption is a definitive choice, not merely a rhetorical stance.
