Baghdad: The Parliamentary Oil, Gas, and Natural Resources Committee revealed that the House of Representatives will not pass important laws during its final legislative term.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, committee member MP Sabah Subhi stated that the House of Representatives will be unable to pass significant laws in its final legislative term due to the upcoming elections and the complex political situation in the region, which have impacted Iraq.

Subhi highlighted that the draft oil and gas law has not been submitted to the House of Representatives or discussed within the Council of Ministers, making it unlikely for the law to be enacted during the current legislative term.

He further explained that the government is currently managing its finances and projects without budget tables, which presents a legal issue that contravenes the constitution. He noted that it is the government’s responsibility to send the budget tables, which Parliament then approves. Subhi suggested that the government will probably not send the budget tables to Parliament before the elections on November 11.
