Baghdad: The Parliamentary Finance Committee held a joint meeting today with the head and officials of the General Tax Authority to discuss automation and the tax number, which includes taxpayer information and tax records, as well as Cabinet Resolution No. (294 of 2025) authorizing the Minister of Finance to dispose of tax deposits and convert them into payroll financing.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting reviewed the reasons and repercussions of withdrawing tax deposits from companies. A representative of the General Tax Authority provided a detailed explanation of the Ministry of Finance’s implementation mechanism for the decision and the mechanism for depositing funds by companies and contractors.

The Director of the Corporate Department at the Authority presented the mechanism for settling amounts deposited with the Authority by companies and contractors that are more than five years old. The meeting also addressed the guarantees and mechanisms established by the Ministry of Finance and the Tax Authority to ensure that companies and contractors recover deposits after project completion.

The committee also discussed the issue of salary insurance and the associated problems, calling for radical solutions to ensure the continued payment of salaries to employees.
