Sulaymaniyah: The Election Commission released the preliminary results for the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections in Sulaymaniyah on Monday evening, indicating a significant lead for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan emerged as the frontrunner with 256,813 votes. They were followed by the New Generation party, which secured 136,131 votes. The Kurdistan Democratic Party also showed a strong presence, garnering 57,832 votes.

Other parties such as the Kurdistan Islamic Union and Kurdistan Justice Group received 42,622 and 36,627 votes respectively. The results showed lesser support for the National Position Movement and People’s Front, which received 29,346 and 20,300 votes respectively. The Change Movement rounded out the list with 9,721 votes.

These results will play a crucial role in shaping the future political landscape of the Kurdistan region, influencing policies and governance in Sulaymaniyah. The final results, expected to
be announced soon, will confirm the distribution of seats in the Kurdistan Regional Parliament.
