Baghdad: A number of Peshmerga forces from the Yazidi component have publicly announced their resignation from military duties within the Kurdistan Region. These forces made their intentions clear in a statement issued from Tahrir Square in central Baghdad, citing experiences of injustice and exclusion as their primary reasons for leaving.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the resigning Peshmerga members have requested to join the official Iraqi forces. They expressed a desire to be integrated under the command of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, seeking a more inclusive military environment.
