Muscat: Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq engaged in a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday afternoon to address the regional tensions following Israel’s recent actions against Iran. Both leaders underscored the necessity for calm and the importance of returning to dialogue.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the call, President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude towards the Omani Sultan for his solidarity with Iran and highlighted the significance of enhancing bilateral relations while expanding regional cooperation. He commended Oman for its effective role in political mediation, particularly concerning Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

President Pezeshkian, as stated by his media office, warned, “If Washington does not intervene to rein in its Zionist ally, Iran will be forced to respond with greater force, beyond what has happened so far.” He highlighted that Israel’s attack on Iranian territory occurred despite Tehran’s clear commitment to non-proliferation and international oversight.

The Iranian President accused the United States of tacitly or directly supporting the Zionist aggression, suggesting it would not have been possible without American approval. Pezeshkian remarked that the enemy underestimated Iran’s capabilities and the unity of its people, believing that targeting leaders, scholars, and civilians would weaken the nation. He stated that Iran’s swift response served as a harsh lesson, promising a more severe retaliation if aggression recurs.

Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s preference for peaceful relations based on respect and cooperation with neighbors, asserting that the recent attack only bolstered internal unity. He emphasized Iran’s commitment to dialogue rooted in justice and respect for people’s rights while rejecting negotiations under threats and aggression.

Sultan Haitham bin Tariq expressed condolences for the loss of Iranian leaders and citizens, strongly condemning the Israeli aggression and reaffirming Oman’s support for Iran. He conveyed concerns over attempts to destabilize peace processes in the region and pledged Oman’s commitment to rationality and support for fraternal peoples against arrogance and aggression.
