Baghdad: The head of the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, Ali Obeid Shalgham, has inaugurated a photo exhibition that highlights the historical significance of the Imam Hussein and Abbas shrines. The event was attended by Ayad Kadhim Dawood, the Director General of the Administrative, Financial, and Legal Department.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the exhibition is organized by the Photography Division of the Department of Archaeological Studies, Research, and Training. It presents a collection of historical and archival photographs that document the cultural and religious heritage of the two shrines. The exhibition also focuses on key moments in the life of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and his family, emphasizing their contributions to the values of sacrifice, reform, and resistance against injustice and tyranny, as established by the Husseini revolution.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry stated that the exhibition forms part of the cultural and artistic events program by the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage. These events are designed to commemorate the Arba'een pilgrimage, following directives from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and under the supervision of the Volunteer Work Committee for the pilgrimage. The objective is to underscore the national and humanitarian values inspired by the Husseini revival and to highlight the cultural dimensions of this significant occasion.

The head of the Authority noted that documenting the visual memory of Iraqi heritage is crucial in the Authority's mission to preserve cultural and religious heritage. He remarked that exhibitions and cultural events play a vital role in enhancing awareness of Iraq's history and civilization, reinforcing the importance of preserving national heritage for future generations.
