Planning Ministry Reviews Draft Strategy for Social Protection System Reform in Iraq


Baghdad: The Technical Committee for Coordinating the Work of the Social Protection System Reform Strategy in Iraq at the Ministry of Planning convened for its eighth meeting.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Maha Abdul Karim Al-Rawi, Director General of the Human Development Department, outlined the committee’s progress in defining the paths and objectives of the social protection system reform strategy. The strategy aims to align with the Iraqi context and national developmental trends, as well as adhere to the government curriculum and existing strategies and policies. It also considers current laws, including the Social Protection Law, the Disabled and Special Needs Law, Retirement, and the Social Security and Health Laws.



The meeting saw participation from various ministry representatives, including those from Finance, the General Retirement Authority, Trade, and Labor and Social Affairs, represented by the Social Protection and Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs authorities. Additionally, members from the Statistics Authority, Geographic Information Systems, and other relevant departments were present.
