Baghdad: The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, has confirmed that no curfew will be imposed on election day. He has directed security forces to facilitate citizens' access to polling stations to ensure they can exercise their voting rights without impediment.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani visited the Joint Operations Command headquarters in Baghdad and chaired a meeting of the High Security Committee for Election Protection. This meeting, conducted via video conference, included subcommittees from all provinces, including the Kurdistan Region, to evaluate the latest security preparations for the parliamentary elections scheduled for next Tuesday, with special voting set for Sunday.

Al-Sudani was briefed by the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations and the head of the High Security Committee about the responsibilities assigned to the main and subcommittees across Baghdad and the provinces. The briefing covered coordination with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), preparations by the Civil Defense Directorate, and supporting agencies. It also highlighted the committee's efforts to maintain and repair schools to ensure they are ready for use after voting concludes.

He was also updated on the IHEC's procedures for conducting elections in line with international standards, national laws, and constitutional principles, emphasizing transparency and noting that over 800 international observers will monitor the process.

Al-Sudani commended the coordination between the Commission and security forces in ensuring the success of this national mission. He stressed that Iraq has succeeded in maintaining its democratic path despite various circumstances and regional developments.

Following the meeting, the Prime Minister visited the central command center to review detailed security measures across Iraq. He affirmed the continuation of efforts to safeguard both the special and general voting days.

Al-Sudani concluded his visit by reiterating that no curfew will be imposed on election day, ensuring that citizens' movement remains smooth and unrestricted. He instructed relevant authorities to provide swift and direct responses to any misinformation or attempts to undermine confidence in the electoral process circulated in the media or on social platforms.
