Baghdad: Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed that Iraq's political system is founded on respect for all beliefs, sects, religions, and orientations. During his visit to Kadhimiya to follow up on the implementation of the plan for commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (peace be upon him), Al-Sudani stated that the state, in all its authorities, is keen to provide appropriate conditions that enable citizens to observe and perform religious rituals freely and safely.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani emphasized that organizing visits to religious shrines in holy cities is among the most important duties undertaken by ministries and state institutions, in integration with community efforts. He noted that responsibility increases in ensuring all security and service requirements necessary to secure the visit and religious rituals, pointing out a clear improvement in performance during each occasion, despite the presence of millions of visitors over several days.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to sustain service efforts, particularly after the conclusion of the visit ceremonies, reaffirming the government's approach of avoiding the militarization of cities, which was one of the methods adopted during this visit. He explained that security institutions carried out their duties at various levels, from the outskirts of cities to the main gathering center in Kadhimiya, emphasizing the importance of confronting attempts by some to politicize the occasion through slogans or practices that do not reflect the ethical and social values of Iraqi society.
Al-Sudani also highlighted the significance of preemptive operations carried out as part of the preparations, especially on the outskirts of cities, expressing hope for their continuation to achieve planned objectives. He noted that community initiatives and citizens' efforts are a fundamental factor in the success of the million-visitor events. He pointed to the necessity for state institutions to maintain coordination with procession committees and community entities, stressing that providing services, donations, and hospitality to visitors reflects the deep-rooted generosity of the Iraqi people.
The Prime Minister further underscored the important role of the media in such occasions in informing citizens about the efforts of the state and its institutions in delivering services. He concluded by stating that the high level of organization, despite the massive crowds, represents a success credited to the security and service agencies.
