PM Al-Zaidi Discusses Strengthening Iraqi-U.S. Relations with U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee

Baghdad: PM Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi met on Wednesday at the U.S. Capitol with Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Brian Mast and Republican and Democratic members of the Committee, as part of his official visit to Washington, D.C.

According to Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting, the two sides discussed developing shared and constructive perspectives on steps to advance Iraqi-U.S. relations across various fields and at all levels. A statement from the PM Media Office highlighted the discussions on economic reform and security enhancements in Iraq. PM Al-Zaidi emphasized the government's commitment to revitalizing sectors with strong investment potential and ensuring state control over weapons.

The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of a balanced approach to foreign relations, fostering an environment conducive to foreign investment, and reforming financial and banking sectors to attract more U.S. companies to Iraq.

Members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee expressed their support for economic and political partnerships with Iraq. They highlighted the efforts to strengthen relations and expand investment, economic, and financing partnerships between Iraq and the United States. Furthermore, they acknowledged Iraq's pivotal role in consolidating stability in the region.
