Baghdad: PM Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi received an official invitation on Monday from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to visit the Japanese capital, Tokyo. The invitation was conveyed during the Prime Minister's meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Akira Endo, who delivered the invitation on behalf of the Japanese government and expressed his country's commitment to strengthening relations of cooperation and partnership with Iraq.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the Japanese invitation, emphasizing "the importance and depth of Iraqi-Japanese relations and Iraq's commitment to developing them across various fields, particularly in the economic and investment fields." He highlighted Iraq's focus on building sustainable economic partnerships and expanding joint cooperation in energy, technology, and development, which he views as crucial to building a more effective economic model. Al-Zaidi also called on Japanese companies to expand their presence and investments across various development sectors in Iraq.

In turn, the Japanese Ambassador expressed his pleasure at conveying his government's invitation to Prime Minister Al-Zaidi, noting that the visit represents an essential step toward strengthening bilateral relations. He emphasized that it would open broader prospects for cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic and investment fields.

The Ambassador further noted that Iraq, under its new government, is witnessing economic growth and an improved investment environment. This progress is supported by security and economic stability, anti-corruption measures, and economic policies aimed at promoting development and attracting investment.
