Baghdad: The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, has directed the formation of a technical and intelligence committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding recent attacks on several military sites.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sabah al-Numan, the official spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, described the attack as cowardly and treacherous. Between 2:15 and 3:45 on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, a series of small suicide drones targeted multiple Iraqi military sites and bases. The attack resulted in significant damage to radar systems at Camp Taji, located north of Baghdad, and the Imam Ali base in Dhi Qar Governorate. Fortunately, there were no human casualties reported.

He further explained that Iraqi forces successfully confronted and thwarted additional attack attempts on four other sites across different locations. The forces managed to engage and shoot down the drones that were intended to target these sites.

Al-Numan clarified that all the targeted sites are military locations fully affiliated with the Iraqi security forces, managed by officers and personnel from the security forces.

Following the attack, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani ordered the creation of a high-level technical and intelligence committee. This committee will include representatives from relevant security agencies tasked with investigating the attack, identifying the perpetrators, and closely following up on the investigation’s findings. Al-Numan emphasized that these criminal acts will not go unpunished and assured that the armed forces will continue to serve as Iraq’s shield in defending its people, territory, and sovereignty.
