Baghdad: Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani on Saturday directed the completion of the final draft of the ‘Iraq 2050 – Towards Development and the Future’ vision, stressing its importance as a comprehensive strategic framework that will shape the country’s transformation in the coming decades.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office said that Al-Sudani instructed the National Higher Committee for Strategies to proceed with fulfilling the requirements of the vision, which aims to bring about a qualitative shift in economic and administrative development, in addition to advancing digital transformation and employing artificial intelligence technologies.

During his meeting with the head of the committee, Al-Sudani emphasized that the vision must stem from Iraq’s specific realities and serve as a roadmap for building a new national contract that strengthens citizens’ trust in institutions and ensures the participation of all social groups in shaping the country’s future, away from short-term policies and reactive measures.

The statement added that this directive comes in line with what Al-Sudani outlined in his ministerial program, as part of establishing a new phase of forward-looking planning based on the principles of sustainable development, social justice, and national sovereignty, with the goal of reshaping Iraq’s future until 2050.
