PM Orders Release of Payments to Iraqi Contractors for Completed Work


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has directed the release of a new batch of payments for completed work, as part of a series of payments owed to Iraqi contractors.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s media office revealed that Mohammed Shia al-Sudani chaired a meeting on Sunday, focusing on the contractual obligations to contractors. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Planning and the head of the Contractors Union.



During the meeting, the participants reviewed the details of contractual obligations, including their amounts and the sums owed to contractors working across all ministries and governorates. This initiative aims to guarantee the rights of contracting companies and bolster the stability of the construction sector, which is a significant driver of the national economy.



Al-Sudani reaffirmed the government’s commitment to closely monitoring projects and their implementation phases. He stressed the importance of ensuring the timely payment of financial dues to contractors to advance infrastructure and service projects.
