PM Stresses Need for Financial and Structural Reforms to Reorder Public Spending Priorities

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the importance of implementing financial and structural reforms to reorder public spending priorities during a recent meeting of the Ministerial Council for the Economy.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sudani stressed the need to proceed with reform measures that will create more job opportunities in the private sector and open doors to new investments in various sectors. These efforts aim to increase revenues and alleviate the burden on the general budget.

The Prime Minister's Media Office reported that al-Sudani chaired the meeting, which addressed the procedures of ministries and government agencies related to the outcomes of a previous meeting. This gathering focused on reducing government spending and maximizing revenues.

Al-Sudani directed relevant authorities to assess the financial impact of implementing spending rationalization measures and to evaluate their effectiveness. He reiterated the importance of these financial and structural reforms to reorder public spending priorities.

Additionally, the Prime Minister highlighted the potential for reform measures to create more job opportunities in the private sector and attract new investments, emphasizing the overall goal of boosting revenues and easing the budgetary strain.
