PMF and the Army Discuss Strengthening Joint Security Cooperation Northwest of Kirkuk

The Popular Mobilization Forces and the army discussed enhancing joint security cooperation northwest of Kirkuk.

A statement by the Popular Mobilization Commission stated: “The Deputy Commander of the Northern and Eastern Tigris Operations of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Yilmaz Al-Najjar, visited the headquarters of the 8th Mechanized Infantry Division, accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Command and the Commander of the 16th Brigade, and they were received by the Commander of the Division, Major General Sadiq Risan Mahna, and a number of the division’s staff.”

During the meeting, the security situation in the northwest Kirkuk sector was reviewed, and the cooperation and joint security deployment of the two commands’ units were discussed.

Mahna stressed the importance of concerted efforts between the armed forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces, noting that the successes achieved in terms of security and stability were thanks to the close cooperation between the various security agencies, and
the role of the Popular Mobilization Forces in protecting the liberated areas since the defeat of ISIS in 2017.

He stressed the need to enhance continuous cooperation to preserve the achievements made thanks to their sacrifices and their steadfast support for the Iraqi people.
