PMF Initiates Security Operation South of Kirkuk


Kirkuk: The forces of the 16th Brigade, within the Northern and Eastern Tigris Operations Command of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), have commenced a large-scale security operation in the areas south of Kirkuk Governorate. This operation encompasses the al-Khasa River and Yirgul areas, aligning with the security plan set for the holy month of Muharram.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Popular Mobilization Commission released a statement detailing the objectives of the operation. The forces are conducting an intensive search campaign in regions suspected of harboring outlaw elements. The operation has a specific focus on apprehending wanted individuals and uncovering weapons and caches that might be used in activities jeopardizing the security of citizens.



The statement further elaborated that this operation is part of an increased coordination effort between various security units. The aim is to enhance stability and preempt any potential threats in the areas south of Kirkuk, ensuring the security of the region during this significant period.
