Nineveh: A force from the Security and Discipline Directorate of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Nineveh successfully intercepted a vehicle loaded with smuggled alcoholic beverages. The operation took place at the dam checkpoint as the vehicle attempted to enter Nineveh Governorate from Duhok Governorate in the Kurdistan Region.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the interception was made possible after the PMF received prior information regarding the vehicle’s movements. The security forces acted swiftly to seize the vehicle, which was found to be carrying a significant quantity of alcoholic beverages.
The statement from the PMF indicated that the accused driver, along with the seized vehicle, was handed over to the Individual Security Directorate for further investigation. Inside the vehicle, various types of alcoholic beverages were discovered, totaling 246 cartons, each containing 24 bottles.
The operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the PMF to combat smuggling activities and maintain security within the region.
