Baghdad: Iraqi lyricist Karim Radhi Al-Ammari considers songwriting a profession rich in content and objectives, and one that brings financial rewards to good songs, depending on the artist's status and fame.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Ammari emphasized the importance of sincerity in songwriting, noting that successful songs should express the concerns and suffering of the people. He advised poets to be honest in their writing, steering clear of sectarianism, tribalism, and flattery. He further suggested that songs should incorporate elements of classical Arabic to resonate with a broader audience. Al-Ammari also stressed the need for Iraqi poets to enhance their skills through academic studies and by exploring a diverse array of poetic models.
Poet Karim Radhi Al-Ammari has collaborated with numerous Iraqi and Arab singers, crafting lyrics for artists such as Fadel Awad, Riyadh Ahmed, Saadoun Jaber, Hussein Neama, Abbas Hassan, Haitham Yousef, Samira Tawfiq, Sabah, the Saudi singer Suad, Faraj Wahab, Abdul Zahra Manati, Sabah Al-Sahl, Ahlam Wahbi, Maida Nuzhat, and others.
Al-Ammari reflected on his beginnings by mentioning the first song lyrics he composed, titled: "I Forgot, O Amara, What Can."
