Baghdad: The Popular Mobilization Forces' Anbar Operations Commander, Qasim Musleh, denied reports circulating regarding the entry of heavy weapons across the border into western Iraq. He stressed that the Iraqi-Syrian border is fully secured and that this news is untrue.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Musleh explained in a statement: "Coordination between the Popular Mobilization Forces, the Border Police, and the Army is taking place at the highest levels to ensure stability in the region," noting that Al-Waleed crossing is completely closed and under the direct control of the Iraqi Border Guard, with no Popular Mobilization Forces forces present there.

He added, "The role of the Popular Mobilization Forces in the western Anbar regions is focused on holding a defensive line behind the Border Guard forces, to support their efforts to protect the border," stressing, "There are some parties trying to destabilize security by issuing false statements aimed at confusing public opinion."

Musleh denied reports circulating regarding the entry of heavy weapons across the border into the western regions of Iraq.

Some social media sites published reports a few days ago of suspicious military movements and heavy weapons smuggling operations from the Syrian side into the Nineveh and Anbar provinces.
