Popular Mobilization Forces: Life Imprisonment for One of the ISIS Terrorists

Baghdad: The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced on Wednesday that a court has sentenced a member of the ISIS terrorist group to life imprisonment.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the PMF stated, "Thanks to the efforts of the Investigations and Preventive Security Directorate of the General Directorate of Security and Discipline within the PMF, the competent court issued a life sentence against a member of the ISIS terrorist organization, after completing the legal and investigative procedures against him."

The statement added that the sentence was delivered following investigations that confirmed the convict's affiliation with the Fallujah province of the ISIS terrorist organization, where he served as a supervisor of ISIS schools in the Al-Nassaf area. His involvement in terrorist activities and his membership in the organization were confirmed after the completion of the evidence and legal procedures against him.

The statement continued that after his arrest and referral to the competent court, the court issued its decision sentencing him to life imprisonment in accordance with the provisions of the law, once the charges against him were proven.

The General Directorate of Security and Discipline of the Popular Mobilization Forces affirmed its ongoing commitment to performing its security and intelligence duties. This includes pursuing ISIS terrorist elements and sleeper cells, and bringing them to justice to ensure their due punishment, thereby contributing to strengthening security and stability and protecting the safety of citizens.
