Ports Discuss with a Japanese Delegation Trade Relations and Participation in the Grand Faw Port Project


Basra: Director General of Ports Farhan Al-Fartousi discussed today, Monday, with a joint delegation from the Japanese Embassy in Baghdad and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), trade relations, expanding horizons of joint cooperation, and participation in the Grand Faw Port project.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the company’s general manager stated, “Today we received a delegation from the Japanese Embassy in Baghdad headed by the First Deputy Ambassador and his accompanying delegation, as well as from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) headed by Vice President Keita Tsuchiya, and the official responsible for the ports sector rehabilitation project implemented by the Japanese Loan Authority, Yoshi Take.”



The discussions focused on opening new avenues for joint cooperation and enhancing trade relations and exchanges with Japan. Furthermore, Al-Fartousi extended an invitation to JICA to participate in the Grand Faw Port project, acknowledging their request to hold extensive meetings regarding this initiative. JICA expressed an initial interest in participating, aligning with several international companies eager to be involved in the significant project.
