Enerhodar: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced a complete power outage at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, Europe’s largest, located in the city of Enerhodar in southeastern Ukraine.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Agency stated in a statement on its X platform account that this is “the ninth power outage during the war in Ukraine, and the first since the end of 2023.”

The plant’s Director General, Rafael Grossi, said: “The plant currently relies on backup diesel generators, which underscores the extremely fragile nuclear security situation.”

It is worth noting that the Zaporizhia plant is located in the Russian-controlled city of Enerhodar on the southern bank of the Dnieper River. The cooling systems of its six closed reactors require a stable power supply to prevent violations of safety standards.
