Baghdad: The Presidency of the Republic has called for an immediate halt to the military escalation and has urged a return to dialogue and diplomatic efforts to resolve ongoing crises.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Presidency issued a statement condemning recent military bombardments targeting vital locations, civilian facilities, and security headquarters across Iraq, with a particular focus on Erbil and Sulaimaniyah in the Kurdistan Region. The statement highlighted that such military actions threaten the stability and security of Iraq and the broader region.
The Presidency emphasized the importance of ending the current escalation and urged a shift towards dialogue and political solutions. It noted the critical need for national unity, political cohesion, and strengthened cooperation between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to address present challenges and safeguard the nation's security and stability.
In its statement, the Presidency also commended the dedication of security forces across Iraq, recognizing their efforts in protecting the nation's borders and maintaining sovereignty. It extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent hostilities and expressed hopes for a swift recovery for the injured.
