Baghdad: President Nizar Amedi emphasised on Tuesday the importance of supporting the Counter-Terrorism Service (ICTS) and developing its capabilities.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Presidential Media Office stated in a press release that “President Nizar Amedi received Lieutenant General Zaid Hawshi al-Maksoosi, head of the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad.”
The statement added that “during the meeting, they discussed the latest security developments and stressed the importance of continuing efforts to enhance security and confront challenges.”
The President praised “the national role of the ICTS and the heroic tasks undertaken by its personnel in maintaining Iraq’s security and confronting terrorist threats,” commending “the great sacrifices made by the heroes of the Service in defending the homeland and protecting citizens.”
He emphasised “the importance of supporting the Service and developing its capabilities to enhance its readiness in performing its national duties.”
For his part, the head of the ICTS expressed “his thanks and appreciation for the President’s support and interest in the work of the Service,” affirming “the continued commitment to exerting maximum efforts to improve performance and carry out the duties entrusted to him with professionalism and competence.”
