Baghdad:President of the Republic Nizar Amidi has emphasized the importance of maximizing state revenues and streamlining procedures at border crossings.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Amidi met with Major General Omar Al-Waeli, Head of the Border Ports Commission, at Al-Salam Palace. During the meeting, the President underscored the critical role of border crossings as economic gateways, urging improvements in operational standards and compliance with security and trade regulations.

The President highlighted the necessity of adopting measures to protect public funds and enhance state revenues, along with simplifying border procedures to serve the public interest and strengthen trust in state institutions. He praised the Commission’s efforts in managing border operations and oversight, which he noted are vital for safeguarding the national economy and boosting state resources.

Major General Al-Waeli provided an update on the strategies being implemented to elevate border crossing performance. He emphasized the Commission’s coordination with governmental, security, and regulatory bodies to ensure efficient operations within the legal framework, aiming to enhance state revenue.
