Baghdad: President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid issued a decree appointing Atwan Al-Atwani as Governor of Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the presidential decree was based on the provisions of Clause (Seventh) of Article 73 of the Constitution, and Clause (First) of Article 26 of the Law on Governorates Not Organized into a Region No. 21 of 2008, as amended. The appointment was made following a proposal by the Baghdad Provincial Council.

The President's Media Office also confirmed that President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid issued another decree appointing Hadi Majeed as Governor of Wasit.
