President Nizar Amidi Stresses Sovereignty of Environmental Issues


Baghdad: The President of the Republic, Nizar Amidi, has underscored the importance of treating the environmental file as a sovereign issue that necessitates collaboration among all institutions.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Nizar Amidi, during a meeting with Minister of Environment Sarwa Abdul Wahid, highlighted the critical need for partnership among state institutions to address environmental challenges. The meeting, held on Sunday, focused on assessing the current environmental landscape and the obstacles faced by the nation.



The Presidency’s press release quoted President Amidi stating that environmental issues have transcended their traditional service-oriented roles, evolving into matters of sovereignty. He emphasized the importance of integrating national policies and programs to effectively counteract environmental and climate challenges.



Minister Sarwa Abdul Wahid presented an overview of the ministry’s key programs and projects aimed at reducing pollution and enhancing environmental monitoring. She also discussed measures being implemented to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
