Baghdad: President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid made a phone call to Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and affirmed Iraq’s condemnation of the Zionist aggression and its solidarity with our Qatari brothers.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the President expressed his strong condemnation of the Zionist aggression against the State of Qatar and his rejection of any threat to its security and sovereignty. He affirmed Iraq’s solidarity with its Qatari brothers in confronting the aggression.
He added that “the aggression against the State of Qatar is a flagrant violation of international laws and norms and a direct threat to the security of the region,” stressing “the need to unify efforts to stop these violations and urge the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in putting an end to these crimes that undermine the prospects for stability and peace.”
The President offered his condolences to the families of the victims and wished the wounded a speedy recovery. Bilateral relations between the two countries were also discussed, as well as the importance of strengthening joint cooperation to serve the interests of the Iraqi and Qatari peoples. The two sides emphasized the need for coordination on issues of common concern.
The Emir of Qatar, for his part, expressed his appreciation for Iraq’s supportive stances towards his country, which reflect the strength of ties between the two countries and their commitment to supporting stability in the region.
