Tripoli: The President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, has received an official invitation to participate in the Arab Summit set to take place in Baghdad. The invitation was delivered by Mohammed Tamim, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, who visited Tripoli on Thursday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Planning issued a statement detailing the meeting between Mohammed Tamim and Taher Al-Baour, Libya’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The meeting was also attended by Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, the Charg© d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to Libya. During the meeting, Tamim handed over a letter from Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, President of the Republic of Iraq, inviting Al-Menfi to the summit scheduled for May 17.

The statement further revealed that the discussions extended beyond the summit invitation. The two parties explored the potential for strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation across various sectors. They also examined issues of mutual interest and the possibility of coordinated efforts within the framework of the Arab Summit preparations.

This diplomatic engagement is part of Iraq’s broader efforts to encourage wide Arab participation in the summit. The aim is to bolster solidarity and foster joint Arab initiatives to address regional and international challenges effectively.
