Nice: President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, met with King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of Jordan on the sidelines of the Third United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, France. The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and other officials from both countries. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations, expanding cooperation, and enhancing trade exchanges to benefit both Iraqi and Jordanian peoples.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the President emphasized the necessity of joint efforts to tackle climate change, protect biodiversity, reduce ocean and water resource pollution, and support sustainable development goals. The meeting also included a review of the issues discussed at the Third United Nations Ocean Conference.

Regional developments were also on the agenda, with both leaders highlighting the need for concerted efforts to ensure security and stability. They discussed supporting the Palestinian people in achieving their legitimate rights to establish an independent state and urged the international community to provide humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

King Abdullah II reiterated Jordan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation, aiming to serve mutual interests. He stressed the importance of building on the outcomes of the recent Arab Summit in Baghdad and addressing the escalation in the West Bank. Additionally, President Rashid congratulated the King on Jordan’s national football team’s qualification for the World Cup.
