Baghdad: President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, discussed on Thursday, June 26, 2025, during a phone call with Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the political and security situation in the region, as well as ways to develop fraternal relations and cooperation between Iraq and Qatar in areas of common interest.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the latest developments were discussed during the call, with the emphasis on containing tensions and adopting the language of dialogue and understanding to resolve issues on the regional and international arenas, thus enhancing the chances of peace and stability in the region.

The need to halt the aggression and violations in the Gaza Strip, provide relief to the brotherly Palestinian people, and the importance of the international community assuming its legal and moral responsibilities in this regard were also emphasized.

Congratulations were also exchanged on the occasion of the New Hijri Year, with the President and the Emir expressing their best wishes for further progress and prosperity for the Iraqi and Qatari peoples.
