President Rashid and Blinken stress the importance of the Strategic Alliance and close cooperation between Iraq and the United States

Baghdad President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stressed the importance of the strategic alliance and close cooperation between Iraq and the United States.

A statement by the Presidency of the Republic stated: “President Rashid received a phone call from Blinken, in which he congratulated him on his election as President of the Republic, wishing him and the Iraqi government success in their missions.”

President Rashid and Minister Blinken stressed the importance of the strategic alliance and close cooperation between Iraq and the United States in fighting terrorism in Iraq and the region. Blinken reiterated his country’s support for the Iraqi people.

According to the statement, the US Secretary of State expressed his happiness in the peaceful and democratic way in which the President of the Republic was elected and the formation of a government that works to accomplish everything that would support the stabilization of security in Iraq, support its stability, provide services to its people, and improve the relationship between the Center and the Kurdistan Region, in the interest of Iraq with all its components.”

The President spoke with Minister Blinken during the call about their attendance at the Climate Summit to be held in Sharm El Sheikh. In this regard, the President of the Republic referred to the environmental problems that Iraq suffers from and the scarcity of water.
