New york: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation to build a fairer and more resilient global financial system. This came in his speech at the first bilateral summit on the sustainable global economy, as part of his participation in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. He highlighted that the summit serves as a crucial platform to promote the democracy of global economic governance and accelerate the implementation of commitments related to development financing.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Rashid pointed to the stance of the Group of 77, stressing that global economic governance remains subject to the limited influence of a few parties, while developing countries bear the heaviest burdens due to debt pressures, capital flight, and declining aid flows.

He emphasized that the summit should stimulate collective will to mobilize resources and direct them toward achieving sustainable development goals.

Concluding his speech, the President called for enhanced cooperation among multilateral institutions and all countries, in a spirit of solidarity and inclusivity, to implement the 2030 Agenda and build a fairer and more resilient international financial system.
