President Rashid Extends Akitu Greetings to Chaldeans, Assyrians, and Syriacs


Baghdad: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid extended his greetings to the Chaldeans, Assyrians, and Syriacs on the occasion of Akitu, the Babylonian-Assyrian New Year. Rashid expressed his well-wishes through a message on the X platform, celebrating the ancient festival.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Rashid stated, “On the occasion of Akitu, the Babylonian-Assyrian New Year, we congratulate our people, the Chaldeans, Assyrians, and Syriacs, wishing them a happy Eid in which everyone enjoys goodness, prosperity, and blessings.” He emphasized the historical significance of Akitu, which has roots dating back thousands of years, and highlighted its importance in reflecting the civilizational value and cultural diversity of Mesopotamia.



The president also expressed a call to action, urging for the preservation of achievements and a collective effort toward a future characterized by love and peace. Rashid’s message underscored the need for unity and the celebration of the rich cultural heritage that the festival of Akitu represents.
