Baghdad: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid emphasized the critical role of effective participation in elections as a foundation for establishing robust and effective state institutions. During a meeting at Baghdad Palace with a delegation from the Board of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission, led by Chairman Judge Omar Ahmed Mohammed, the President underscored the significance of electoral engagement.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Chairman of the Commission expressed gratitude to the President for his unwavering support of the Commission’s efforts in preparing for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The President reiterated that active participation in elections is crucial for ensuring an electoral process that reflects the genuine will of the people and contributes to the formation of strong and effective state institutions. This involvement is seen as a vital step in enhancing citizens’ trust in the electoral system.
President Rashid also highlighted the importance of conducting free and fair elections to achieve electoral justice and fulfill the aspirations of Iraqis in selecting their representatives. He advocated for the creation of a comprehensive media strategy to encourage widespread voter participation, thereby strengthening the democratic process and broadening the base of popular representation.
