Diyala: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid affirmed his continued support for strengthening the integrity of universities and raising their academic standards. A statement from the Presidency stated, “President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid conducted a field visit to Diyala University on Tuesday, during which he met with the university’s president, Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, and the deans and staff of the colleges. He was briefed on the university’s academic and educational situation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, at the beginning of his remarks, Rashid affirmed his continued full support for university work and higher education institutions, with the aim of developing their curricula, enhancing their rigor, raising their academic standards, and contributing to the development of students’ skills and preparing them for the labor market. This goal aims to provide state institutions with qualified personnel who contribute to serving society.
The President noted that Diyala Governorate, with its rich history and cultural heritage, has been and continues to be one of Iraq’s prominent cultural and scientific centers. He emphasized the importance of continuing to invest in the capabilities of its people and supporting its academic institutions to enhance their role in the comprehensive national renaissance.
The President praised the pivotal role played by scientific and academic cadres in improving the political and social reality by providing research, studies, and ideas that address vital national issues of concern to the country and its citizens.
The President of the Republic called for intensifying efforts to launch reconstruction and investment projects and exploit Iraq’s human and natural resources, with the aim of improving the lives of citizens and providing them with the best services.
The statement continued, “Iraq faces a number of challenges that require serious cooperation to address them, especially in the economic and environmental fields.” He noted that Diyala Governorate is one of the areas most affected by the water scarcity crisis, which requires redoubled efforts to find the necessary solutions.
For his part, the President of the University of Diyala, Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, welcomed the President’s visit to the university, expressing his gratitude for this significant support for academic institutions. He noted that the University of Diyala is making rapid strides towards developing its infrastructure and education, raising the level of scientific research, and opening up to society through scientific and development initiatives that meet the needs of the governorate and the country, contribute to building a knowledge economy, and graduate qualified cadres capable of contributing to Iraq’s renaissance.
