Baghdad: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid reaffirmed today, Wednesday, Iraq’s commitment to enhancing its relations with the United States in a way that upholds national interests and preserves the country’s sovereignty.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Rashid received the U.S. Embassy’s Charg© d’Affaires in Iraq, Steven Fagin, at Baghdad Palace, where they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various fields.

The statement noted that the meeting emphasized the importance of continued coordination between the two countries on political, economic, and security issues, in addition to supporting efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region and preventing further conflict.

For his part, Fagin expressed his country’s appreciation for the level of cooperation with Iraq, affirming the United States’ support for the Iraqi government’s initiatives to promote stability, implement economic and developmental reforms, and strengthen future partnership prospects.
