Baghdad: President Nizar Amidi has highlighted the critical need for collaboration between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in addressing issues related to agriculture and water management.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Presidential Media Office disclosed that President Amidi met with Begard Talabani, the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources of the KRG, along with her delegation at Baghdad Palace on Monday. The meeting covered various topics concerning the agricultural sector and the efficient management of water resources.

President Amidi underscored the importance of joint efforts between the federal government and the KRG to tackle challenges in agriculture and water resource management. He noted the impact of climate change, including water scarcity and reduced rainfall, which are increasingly affecting the agricultural sector. The President stressed the necessity of adopting sustainable water resource management strategies and advancing agricultural practices to adapt to these changes, thereby ensuring the country’s food and water security.

Begard Talabani, representing the KRG, discussed the current state of agriculture and water resources in the Kurdistan Region. She highlighted the significant needs and priorities and emphasized the importance of ongoing meetings and coordination to address shared challenges.
