Baghdad: Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, has announced that the Iraqi government has made notable advancements in empowering the nation’s army, particularly in the realm of armament. During an iftar banquet attended by officers and fighters from the Ground Forces Command, Al-Sudani emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the military’s capabilities across all leadership, formations, and branches.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani’s media office released a statement in which the Commander-in-Chief congratulated attendees on the holy month of Ramadan. He praised the current security and stability in Iraq, attributing it to the sacrifices of the security services personnel. He highlighted a decline in terrorist activities and criminal offenses, pointing out that this stability allows the state to provide services and embark on development and economic projects.
Al-Sudani underscored the importance of addressing the rights and entitlements of military personnel, especially concerning housing. He revealed that the Ministry of Defense has made significant headway in preparing residential plots, which will soon be distributed to servicemen and women in serviced areas. This initiative is part of the government’s broader commitment to supporting the families of martyrs and the wounded, whose sacrifices have been pivotal in achieving Iraq’s security.
He further noted Iraq’s ongoing recovery, growth, and progress, stressing the importance of maintaining readiness, vigilance, and adherence to fundamental principles. Al-Sudani called for discipline, commitment, professionalism, and a willingness to sacrifice as essential military values. He urged leaders and officers to embody these principles and to prioritize continuous training and updated curricula to enhance the army’s readiness for various challenges.
In his concluding remarks, Al-Sudani reiterated the government’s duty to uphold the rights of martyrs’ families and the wounded, affirming that Iraq is on the right path toward unity and a cohesive national discourse for all its citizens.
