Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani offered his condolences on Thursday to the leader of the Shiite National Movement, Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr, on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyid Muhammad al-Sadr.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a post on the “X” platform, al-Sudani expressed his sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to His Eminence Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr, the al-Sadr family, followers, and fans of the martyred Sayyid al-Sadr, as well as the people, on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr and his two sons.

Al-Sudani emphasized that the martyred Sayyid al-Sadr was not only a religious authority but also a political revolutionary and social reformer who addressed all Iraqis in his speech. He highlighted Sayyid al-Sadr’s commitment to unity across sects, components, nationalities, and affiliations, which led to the dictatorial regime targeting him. Al-Sudani remarked on the heinous crime committed against Sayyid al-Sadr, as he stood against schemes of tyranny that aimed to divide Iraqis and control their resources and potential.
