Prime Minister Al-Zaidi Meets Iraqi Community and Business Leaders in Washington

Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed the Iraqi government's commitment to protecting the historical presence of its core communities during a meeting in Washington, D.C. with representatives of the Iraqi community and Iraqi businessmen from the U.S. state of Michigan.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister's media office released a statement highlighting that the meeting, held Monday evening at al-Zaidi's residence, focused on the conditions of the Iraqi community and explored ways to enhance their participation in development and investment in Iraq. Discussions also included opportunities for Iraqis living abroad to contribute to diversifying the Iraqi economy.

Al-Zaidi emphasized the importance of Iraq's cultural diversity, viewing the various Iraqi groups as a valuable human resource both within the country and overseas. He encouraged Iraqi businessmen, especially Christians in the United States, to invest in promising sectors such as education, healthcare, and oil products. Additionally, the Prime Minister outlined the government's ambitious plans to significantly increase oil production within three years.

The Prime Minister expressed a warm welcome for the return of Iraqi Christian families to their ancestral homeland, encouraging their involvement in the reconstruction of the Nineveh Plains. He also showed support for the establishment of branches of American banks in Iraq, reiterating the government's dedication to safeguarding the historical presence of the essential components that contribute to Iraq's diverse and harmonious society.

Representatives of the Iraqi community conveyed their eagerness to engage in the Iraqi market and foster productive partnerships between American companies and the Iraqi public and private sectors. They aim to support the diversification of the Iraqi economy and enhance cooperation across various economic fields.
