Baghdad:Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi has instructed the Ministry of Justice to hasten the completion of a database for state and real estate properties to speed up land allocation and title transfer processes.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Zaidi chaired a meeting of the Higher Committee for the “Watan Initiative,” a project aimed at providing one million residential land plots. The meeting was attended by key government figures, including the Ministers of Justice and Agriculture, and focused on reviewing the project’s progress and the steps needed to complete it on time.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of finalizing the database to facilitate land allocation and ownership title processes. He also called for proposals to accelerate ownership transfers of residential units on agricultural land, as outlined in Resolution 320 of 2022.
Ihsan Al-Awadi, the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office and Head of the Higher Steering Committee, reported significant progress in the “Watan Initiative,” which spans 121 cities in 15 governorates. He noted that procedures for 275,000 residential land plots are complete and ready for development, with infrastructure services contracting set to begin soon.
Yousef Khalaf, Head of the Board of Advisors, discussed criteria for allocating residential land to citizens, ensuring eligible groups receive their entitlements. The Prime Minister directed that distribution consider residents’ locations and support low-income families, with citizen registration to begin within the next month.
