Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi arrived in the capital, Baghdad, early Wednesday after concluding his official European visit, which included visits to both France and Germany.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Media Office of the Prime Minister released a statement detailing the extensive itinerary and accomplishments of Al-Zaidi’s European visit. During his stay in France and Germany, the Prime Minister held a series of high-profile meetings and participated in significant events aimed at strengthening Iraq’s international relations and economic partnerships.

In France, Prime Minister Al-Zaidi had crucial discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron and engaged with a variety of influential figures, including the President of TotalEnergies and the Chairman of Rothschild Bank. He also met with heads and representatives from several French companies and the President of the Arab World Institute. Al-Zaidi took this opportunity to meet with correspondents from French and international newspapers, emphasizing Iraq’s strategic initiatives and vision for future collaborations.

The German leg of the trip was marked by key engagements, including meetings with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz. A joint press conference with Chancellor Merz underscored the bilateral commitments between Iraq and Germany. The Prime Minister chaired expanded talks between delegations from both nations and participated in the German-Iraqi Dialogue Forum.

A highlight of the visit was Al-Zaidi’s meeting with the CEO of Siemens, where they presided over the signing of the Energy Cooperation Principles Agreement (Phase IV) with Siemens, marking a significant step in Iraq’s energy sector development. The visit culminated in the signing of six memoranda of understanding and cooperation in Paris, setting the stage for future collaborations in various sectors.
