Prime Minister Directs Timely Completion of Nasiriyah International Airport Project


Nasiriyah: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed adherence to the timings and timetables for the Nasiriyah International Airport project on Monday.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from his media office detailed that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani visited Nasiriyah International Airport to follow up on the progress of the implementation work there. This visit was part of his trip to the governorate, which he arrived in this morning to launch work on several infrastructure and service projects.



The statement conveyed that al-Sudani listened to explanations from the implementing company officials about the progress achieved in various project facilities. During his tour of the terminal, corridors, and airport departments, he emphasized adherence to the project’s timetables and schedules. He also called for the expedited removal of obstacles impeding progress, such as ensuring the provision of electrical power and resolving service conflicts, including the demolition and removal of military facilities from the airport site. Furthermore, he directed the completion of mine surveys and radiological surveys of the remaining project area.



The statement further explained that the overall completion rate at the airport has reached 47%, with the runway and taxiway being 100% complete. Advanced rates are also being achieved in the main passenger terminal (82%), the parking area (87%), the VIP terminal (75%), and the airport staff building (88%).
