Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the crucial nature of the relationship between the federal government and local governments in a recent meeting.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sudani hosted a meeting with the newly appointed Governor of Wasit, Hadi Majeed al-Hamashi, and the head of the Provincial Council, Ali Sulaiman al-Shammari. During this meeting, he congratulated the Governor on his new role and underscored the significance of enhancing and harmonizing the relationship between federal and local governments. This, he noted, is vital for the successful implementation of development and service projects aimed at benefiting citizens.

Al-Sudani also addressed the tragic fire incident in the city of Kut, highlighting the importance of addressing its psychological and material impacts. He stressed the necessity of providing justice and compensation to the families of the victims. Additionally, he called for rigorous efforts to implement safety measures across government and commercial buildings to prevent similar incidents in the future, ensuring the safety of the public.
