Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani extended an invitation to American companies to engage in Iraq’s development renaissance and take advantage of its attractive, business-friendly investment environment.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sudani’s media office released a statement detailing the Prime Minister’s meeting with Steve Lutes, Chairman of the American-Iraqi Business Council and Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce. The meeting involved discussions on enhancing trade and cooperation between Iraq and the United States and preparations for an upcoming forum for American company representatives in Iraq later this year. The parties also reviewed the progress of 18 agreements and memoranda of understanding established during al-Sudani’s prior visit to the United States.
Prime Minister al-Sudani commended Lutes for his efforts in organizing forums and meetings, particularly with the Iraqi private sector. He emphasized the Iraqi government’s advances in economic reform, digital commercial, and banking transformation. Al-Sudani highlighted ongoing efforts to legislate intellectual property law and integrate the concept into school curricula to align with global commercial developments. He noted that these economic reforms have elevated foreign investment levels in Iraq.
Steve Lutes acknowledged the Iraqi government’s reform initiatives and expressed that numerous American companies are eager to explore the Iraqi market. He emphasized the potential for forming promising partnerships with the Iraqi private sector and contributing to the expansion of commercial and investment activities in the country.
