Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani Emphasizes Importance of Maximizing Non-Oil Revenues


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has underscored the critical role that maximizing non-oil revenues plays in bolstering the state treasury. This statement was made during his meeting with Omar al-Waili, the head of the Border Ports Authority, where they discussed the current state of border ports and explored avenues for their development and reconstruction, as well as the activation of e-governance.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister highlighted the significance of integrating modern technologies, implementing automation systems, and enhancing governance to streamline the entry of goods through border ports. He also emphasized the need for the Ports Authority to assess its personnel and take action against any officer, employee, or member with negative records outside the ports’ operations.



During the meeting, Omar al-Waili provided an overview of the field tours related to the rehabilitation and development of the border ports. He assured that advancing the border ports would be a key achievement in the government’s program. Al-Waili stated that efforts are underway following well-structured plans focused on maximizing revenues, developing and reconstructing the ports, enforcing electronic governance, upholding the authority of the state, and safeguarding the national product.
