Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has directed that the third phase of the reconstruction of Rashid Street be completed in record time, adhering to specified specifications and conditions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Prime Minister al-Sudani chaired a special meeting concerning the rehabilitation of Rashid Street. The meeting was attended by the Governor of the Central Bank and members of the Iraqi Banks Association. This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to revive the historic city of Baghdad, with its significant landmarks, monuments, and streets, in a manner befitting its status as the capital of Iraq.

The statement released by the media office highlighted that the meeting addressed the legal and financial channels that would facilitate the project’s implementation. A mechanism was developed to ensure the transfer of funds from the Central Bank, donors, and state institutions to the implementing Agency, which is overseen by the Iraqi Banks Association.

The meeting also included a study on the various professions and crafts practiced on Rashid Street. There was an emphasis on collaborating with the owners of these professions to develop ideas for their growth in a manner aligned with the street’s status post-development. The relevant committee was tasked with accomplishing this, as well as developing strategies for large stores and shops and identifying alternatives for them.
